I don't think you're a bad person, and I never wanted to see you that way. You were someone I loved, and no matter how much pain came between us, I can't erase all the good memories simply because things ended badly. Maybe that's what hurts the most, knowing that someone who once meant so much to me could also become someone I needed to let go of.
I wish things had been different. I wish we had known how to love each other without hurting each other. Maybe if we had understood each other better, some things could have been different. But they weren't, and maybe that's something I have to accept. I'm sorry for the ways I hurt you, for the things I failed to understand, and for the things between us that we couldn't fix.
I don't hate you, and I don't want to carry anger toward someone who once meant so much to me. I just wish you hadn't become someone I had to learn to live without.
I hope you're okay. And I hope that someday, when you remember me, you remember that I loved you, not perfectly, but sincerely. Even if we didn't know how to make it last, what I felt for you was real. Perhaps that's enough for me to carry forward, not the bitterness of how we ended, but the gratitude that, for a time, I got to love you.
