We collect what is reasonably needed to run, secure, moderate, and improve the service. Public letters are public. Newsletter consent is separate and optional.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect account details such as name, display name, email address, encrypted password credentials, consent records, and account settings; submitted letters and reports; technical data such as IP address, device and browser information, timestamps, logs, cookies, and security identifiers; communications with support; and analytics or referral information.
2. Information You Submit
Letters may contain sensitive emotional, relationship, health, religious, or personal information. Do not submit sensitive information about yourself or another person unless you understand the consequences. Public submissions may be indexed, cached, copied, and redistributed.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to operate accounts, process submissions, moderate content, prevent abuse, secure the service, communicate service notices, respond to legal requests, maintain records, analyze performance, improve features, enforce policies, and—only with separate consent—send newsletter or marketing communications.
4. Legal Bases and Legitimate Uses
Depending on location and context, processing may be based on contract, consent, legitimate interests, legal obligations, protection of rights and safety, or another lawful basis.
5. Service Providers and Disclosures
We may disclose information to hosting, storage, email, security, analytics, moderation, professional-adviser, and infrastructure providers; to affiliates such as Unsently; in a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale; when required by legal process; or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, users, or the public.
6. Public Content
Information in a public letter, including the chosen signature, title, recipient description, category, and body, is intentionally public. We cannot control third-party screenshots, archives, search engines, copies, or reposts.
7. Cookies and Local Storage
We use essential cookies and session technologies for login, security, preferences, submission continuity, and abuse prevention. If optional analytics or advertising technologies are added later, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before activation.
8. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for operation, moderation, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, backups, and enforcement. Some data may remain in backups, legal records, or security logs after account deletion.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no internet service or storage method is completely secure. You use the service at your own risk.
10. Your Choices and Rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain personal information where applicable. You may unsubscribe from marketing at any time. We may require reasonable identity verification and may retain information where law or legitimate operational needs allow.
11. Adults Only
The service is intended for people age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. Contact us if you believe a minor has submitted personal information.
12. International Processing
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where providers operate. Those locations may have different privacy laws.
13. Contact
Privacy requests may be sent to contact@unsently.com.
