Protection without pretending perfection

No automated system catches everything. Our approach combines a safety gate, community reporting, temporary hiding, and human review.
Immediate publication or review
Ordinary public letters may publish immediately. Higher-risk letters are held privately until a moderator reviews them.
Community reports
Readers may report personal information, self-harm concerns, sexual content, threats, harassment, spam, or other guideline violations.
Temporary hiding
Critical reports or multiple independent reports may temporarily hide a public letter. Its URL then explains that the page is under review.
Human decision
An administrator can restore the letter, keep it hidden, reject it, or request further action based on the content and context.
What we remove or restrict
Public expression has boundaries.
- Private phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, or identifying details
- Credible threats or instructions for harming someone
- Sexual exploitation or child-safety violations
- Targeted harassment, doxxing, or impersonation
- Spam, scams, or commercial manipulation
- Content that violates applicable law or our terms
Urgent safety situations
This site is not an emergency service. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource in your location.
Do not use a public letter to reveal another person’s private information or to coordinate real-world harm.
Appeals and corrections
A report is not automatically a final judgment.
Reports trigger review. They do not prove that the writer acted maliciously or that the letter permanently violates the rules. When a report is dismissed, the letter can be restored to the same public URL.
